This past weekend, the Moroso team got to spend some time at the fourth round of Formula Drift 2023 - The Gauntlet. The last FD event we attended as a company was OSW Florida, back in 2019, and we have to say, it was great to be back out there with all the fans, drivers and teams, and our customers.
On top of that, it was at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey! What used to be a legendary drag strip, is now a stadium DRIFT course!
The weather wasn’t great, with lots of clouds, some rain, and lots of humidity. Even then, the fans showed up in droves, ready to see their favorite drivers rip around the course. In between runs, spectators could enjoy a car show, meet and greets with the drivers, and a vendor area where all sorts of companies in the industry were showing off, selling product and answering questions.
Years later, it still seems there’s staple engine swaps that lots of teams run because of power potential, the ability to take lots of abuse, and lots of parts support.
The Toyota JZ series inline 6, and of course, the GM LS based V8.
For that reason, we showcased our front sump(#20146) and rear sump(#21172) LS options, that give customers additional capacity, ways to run an oil filter on the pan or remotely, and most importantly, OIL CONTROL. Lots of trap doors to keep oil centered around the oil pump pick up during hard driving, like what’s done in drifting.
For the JZ platform, we brought out one of our 4 stage (three scavenge) dry sump pans. Our #20938 Toyota JZ dry sump pan features all aluminum TIG welded construction, with a strong billet rail, three -12 AN pickups, provisions for returns, and a removable windage tray.
We also brought a selection of other products racers and enthusiast may need for their projects or shop; including catch cans and air oil separators, fabricated tanks, tools like tire pressure gauges and tow straps, battery boxes, and other oiling system components like our Accumulator and sandwich adapters.
The Formula Drift series has been around for quite some time, and we can't wait to see what's next!
